Well, here it is, and two months have gone by since the last update
. Most of the work over the recent weeks has been adding films on the streaming page. There just hasn't been as much new for download lately, although I do have some that I need to get added. A couple of things need to be pointed out.
First, the voting has begun for the annual Atom films contest. Voting closes July 10th, but be sure to check out the films that are entered this year. http://www.atom.com/spotlights/starwars/challenge/vote.html
Second. I have just added the Dark Skies DVD to the download library. If you haven't seen it before, it's one of the earliest fan films. It's notable because it was made before Ep2 was released, and it represents a different vision for how the story might have gone. It's a great DVD, and if you watch the film, I think you'll find the ending to be VERY interesting (and familiar).
Third, there's a new fan film that was just recently released on YouTube called the Jedi Child. It's a good film, and it's worth a call-out. Take a look at it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6o1ZIp1hIY&feature=related Watch it all the way through, or you'll miss some of the best stuff.
And fourth, there was a teaser released for a new film that should be out within the next couple of months. Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kMMcfgijVc&feature=channel

Hello folks! I will be the first to admit that I haven't been as consistent with the blog as I would like. Sorry for that! I wish I could say that it's been awhile because of how busy things have been with the site. It has been pretty busy, but it's been the real job that's been slowing me down the most. I do have some pretty good stuff that I need to get put up, mostly links to streaming videos on YouTube. There are some pretty cool movies that I hope will be out soon. Just waiting on word for those!
There are also a couple of projects in the works for upgraded versions of some favorites. There have been a few in the works for awhile, but at least one of them is pretty close to being finished. Also out soon will be a new trailer for Versus 2. It's another great look at the quality that we can al expect from that film when it comes out this winter.
This isn't Star Wars related, but I can't help but mention a new Lord of the Rings fan film that has just been released. The Hunt for Gollum was released yesterday, and I highly recommend it. It's a good film, and it fits very well with the LOTR series. You can see all of the info here: http://thehuntforgollum.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html
One other thing to mention is that this site is just about a year old now. The first couple of months were pretty weak, especially compared to what I have today. The thing that has surprised me the most is the international flavor to all of this. I have had contact with people from several different countries through all of this (still do!). The first big success for me came from Australia, and the files that are hosted here are hosted out of Canada. The real wake up has been from the visitors. So far, this site has visitors from 93 different couontries. That amazes me!
Thanks to everyone for the participation, and thanks always for visiting!

Hello out there. The past couple of weeks have been pretty busy with the real job, but there have been a few things to note here that you should make sure to check out.
The first new film you should check out is called Renaissance. It was made in Chile, and it's in Spanish with subtitles. It works a little different than other films that you'll find here. It downloads in a .rar file that contains the film, and the subtitle files. Play it with VLC, and VLC will 'find' the subtitle files in the folder and play those so that you have the English subtitles. I also ran that through the DVD Flick program, where you can also pick up the .srt file, and it came out great.
Another new film is Path of Rage, which is feaatured on the home page. My dealings with the guys that made that film goes way back to when I first started the site, and I have always appreciated their support! The film is 45 min long, German with English subtitles. It's an ambitious film ,with all-CG environments. It's a pretty good story that focuses on the Whills as a backdrop for the story, and there are some unique things in there. A mix of serious story, and a little bit of parody.
I have come across some other hard-to-find films that I will get up on the site within the next few days. So, keep an eye out for those (most will have Spanish titles).
This has been a very busy season for new releases, and I'm hearing that there will be moe in the next few weeks. I'll be sure to call those out, as well as other updates.
Thanks for visiting!

Wow. Things have really been moving quickly. I thought I was about a week behind on posting a new update, and it's been a month since the last one (!). The past few weeks have seen alot of action, but not as much that could be seen by the folks that visit. Some of it is very obvious though - like the addition of the Dark Resurrection DVD for download. As I state on the home page, the DVD is just the film, but it's such a high quality version. If you haven't downloaded that, burned it, etc., you need to do that. It's a must-see!! I fell that I'm very fortunate to be able to offer that one.
Also new this weekend is the DVD for Versus. That project has been in the works for awhile, and it really turned out great. The higher-quality download version of just the film was also added a couple of weeks ago, and that was a direct result of this project. There were a few people involved in making that possible. First was Nicolas Santini, who graciously made all of the materials available (special nod to Marc Rienzo, who had the source file for the film). Nicolas had made a DVD way back when of the film, plus all of the great extras. This version adds the upgraded version of the film, subtitled in English. Plus the Way to Shadow, and trailer for Versus 2. The other thing on there that's new is the music video tribute to the Versus Saga. It's a great peice of work, and it was done by Randy Kelly. Randy is the guy that did the heavy lifting on the whole DVD project. He did the subtitles and set up the HQ download version, and he authored the new DVD. He did a great job!
I'm currently trying to negotiate a few other DVD's for the site, and I'll give updates as they become available. Some are DVD's that have existed, but haven't been available before, and some are completely new authors of some great filoms.
There were also two great new releases that have happened since my last update. The third installment in the Spirits of the Force trilogy was released early in Feb, and it was a great way to wrap up the series. So, check out Reflections of Evil, and the first two films in the series if you haven't already. The other big release came a week later with the Boba Fett Chronicles. It's a really good good effort, and it's worth the watch for sure. It's the first film from those guys, and they look like seasoned veterans.
Be sure to check all of that stuff out, and keep coming back from more. Talk to you again soon!

The past couple of weeks have gone by very quickly. 2 of the pages went through pretty significant updates.
Software U Want. This was formerly a page that just gave some info for Vista users, and recommended the VLC Player (plus the settings to make it work best). That info is still there, but I added links and other information for some of the software that I think is most useful for the people that are using this site. The biggest, of course, is the DVD Flick software for authoring some basic DVD's of some of these movies. If you haven't tried that software, you are missing out.
About SW Fan Films. This page was a pretty basic blurb about these films, with the main point being that they are NOT for profit. So, I added some info for where to find some other really great Star Wars fan media - audio, fiction, etc. Expand your Star Wars universe!
The other major event here has been the release of the film "Immolation". I was very fortunate to be allowed to particpate in the launch for that film, and it is one that you should check out. Drop by their site, and let them know that you appreciate the hard work on that film.
There is some pretty cool stuff coming soon. I just added Empire Strikes Backyard in DVD, and I'm about to add TENCLO as well. In the next few weeks, I will should be adding Versus in DVD as well as HQ download, and (drumroll please) Dark Resurrection 1 will be offered as a DVD download. I'm very excited to be able to offer that one. There will be a few other surprises mixed in as well, so check back often.
One more thing. The final installment of the Spirits of the Force trilogy launches this Sat, Feb 6th. Be sure to check out the first two films ('Spirits of the Force' and 'Fool's Errand'), then download Reflections of Evil. You can find some more info about it on my Favorites page, and on their web site.

The past two weeks have been pretty busy, but then that's nothing new! Some of the behind-the-scenes work has continued, as far as organizing files, etc. Not like that's terribly exciting to read about (or write about). If you're a regular visitor, or if you've been here a couple of times in the past, there are a couple of things that I updated recently.
First, I updated the info on the Favorites page. I have been working page by page to make sure I have brought them more up to speed for what I want to represent, and the Favorites really needed some love. I wouldn't say it was a drastic change, but I added more of a meaningful synopsis for the films there, as well as run times. So, since November, I have given face lifts to the Streaming Video page, the Important Links page, and Favorites. And I added the Stop Animation page early in that time-frame as well.
There were a few films added to the Downloads Library, as well as the Streaming page. Most notably, there's a new Knights of the Old Republic 2 film in the library, as well as a KoTOR 2 series. Be sure to check those out.
Still to come:
- Immolation releases on Jan 31st, and that will be co-ordinated here and on their official site.
- I will be working on updating the Downloads Library over the next couple of months. I will be adding run-times and classifications (serious, parody, lightsaber duel) , and I hope to add a fetaure to be able to click to preview films in streaming format as well. As you can imagine, that is a HUGE project by itself.
If anyone has suggestions, or would like to help out with the streaming project, let me know.

Welcome to the site! If you're here, you're obviously a Star Wars fan, and you may be new to the world of fan films. I myself sort of stumbled into this world early in 2008, and I was shocked at what I had been missing. I had seen Troops at some point a few years back, but I never connected it to a large group of great films that are available for free on the web. The other thing that I found was that there were a few sites that had some of the best films pulled together, but there were TONS of films out there that you had to dig and hunt to find. So, I thought "why not put together a site where they can be found in one place?". It started out with that simple thought. Not long after that, I thought that I also needed to try to offer something that you couldn't find on some of those other sites. So, I tracked down the director of "the Dark Redemption" and asked if he was interested in offering his film in a higher-quality version than what was available (at that time, it was available to download in 5 parts, at low-resolution). He was all for it, and I quickly realized two important things: 1) these film-makers are generally great people, who are glad to see people interested in their films, and 2) these film-makers feel a great sense of community, and they are quick to jump in and help out. I got into this with no real appreciation of what would be involved, and I couldn't have done so much without some help from some great people.
So, this is the first post in the blog, and (other than blabbering about why I have this site) I want to set some expectations for what I will use the blog for. As I start this, my intention is to do updates at least bi-weekly, but maybe more often. Mainly, I want a way to tell visitors what's new, what plans I have for the site, etc.
So, what have I been working on lately? I haven't added as many films over the past month or so, and some of that has just been a busy 'real-world' life, and some has been behind-the-scenes work. I got an external hard drive about two months ago to archive these films, and some of the work the past month has been to better organize all of that on my end. I've also be synching up with the files up at the phispace host to make sure everything on the hard drive is represented on the host. That's nearly finished, so the next process is to organize and synch the stuff that I have been collecting over the past few weeks. In a nutshell, that means that there will be a pretty decent amount of new offerings here over the new couple of weeks. Other things I'm working on are:
- A page for teasers and trailers. There's a lot to look forward to!
- Info on some great, free software that I've used that has been a huge help.
- Tracking down more DVD versions of films, and upgraded downloads.
So, thanks for your support, and keep an eye out here regularly. Bookmark!
